Abstract
Medical image matching is the key factor of the computer aided diagnosis. Many image processing technologies have been developed and discussed in the past. However, the time complexity costs of the matching methods are too high to be realistic on handling huge amount of existing medical images. This paper proposes a parallel architecture for matching huge amount of medical images. A feature vector based matching algorithm is presented, which is simpler than classical algorithms, yet is suitable for parallel architecture, and can give acceptable results. The experiments show that the overhead of synchronizing the parallel process is much less significant that the improvement of the overall efficiency.
