Abstract :
A balanced cascaded optical intensity modulator (COIM) link that uses two pairs of cascaded EOM-EOMs or LD-EOMs, two photo detectors and hybrid circuits is proposed for frequency multiplexing and mixing. The COIM link has the potential for broad bandwidth and low loss transmission. Moreover, this link can be applied to expand fiber optic link networks in a simple manner.<>
