Abstract
The article presents original formulations of the E-fields generated by a vertical dipole immersed in a dissipative medium. From the latter the E-fields generated by a vertical interstitial antenna in the surrounding medium can be descended with almost analytic accuracy. This allows fast evaluation of the injected power distributions versus frequency, medium parameters and antenna geometry. The result is of major interest in applications such as the microwave hyperthermia that is a reliable technique in the therapy of localised tumours
