  • Abstract
An entirely new technique used for switching control is one-cycle control. This method is capable of reducing the harmonic components produced by employing the power electronic converters and also provide a better output within a comparatively lesser duration of time. Based on the switching strategies employed for a single phase AC chopper, a comparison was performed to characterize the performance characteristics of PWM and One-Cycle Control techniques that were applied to the circuit. Simulation programs for different control schemes were run in MATLAB-SIMULINK software to observe the effect of One-Cycle Control and PWM techniques respectively. The results obtained have proved to be a great asset in analyzing the advantages and disadvantages of one technique with respect to the other. One-Cycle Control technique is better than PWM control in reducing undesirable harmonic content and to do so in a lesser duration of time. The results obtained have been provided to verify the conclusions.
