Abstract :
With the more usage of conveyor belts in coalmines, the possibility of belt longitudinal rip is increasing and the loss caused by rip is very enormous. This paper puts forward a real time monitoring method of conveyor belt longitudinal rip through pressure monitor. The principle of this monitoring method lies in the pressure on conveyor belt suddenly increase before belt longitudinal rip. We could detect the pressure´s value number and estimate the system is in normal working state or in longitudinal rip condition. If the system is in longitudinal rip condition, the monitoring device automatically gives out command to machine halt for safety protection of the whole conveyor belt. Actual application system shows this method could promptly and effectively monitor belt longitudinal rip.
