Abstract :
Requirements are the foundation of the software release process. They provide the basis for developing budgets, schedules, and design and testing specifications. Changing requirements during a software release process impacts the cost, schedule, and quality of the resulting product. We have collected data on 20 software releases in our environment to understand the source, magnitude, and effects of changing requirements on software maintenance releases. The benefits received include better management of releases and improved customer communications
