Abstract :
We present a linear arbitrary ratio resizer for the interoperability of digital video in MPEG applications. The resizer supports conversions among interlaced/progressive 4:2:0, 4:2:2 and 4:4:4 formats with arbitrary resizing and fractional shift. Particularly, for interlaced to progressive conversion (deinterlacing), we propose a motion detection based deinterlacing algorithm, which combines resizing with deinterlacing, and thus is bandwidth efficient. A framework is established for sampling distance, which incorporates the fractional phase shift in the input/output luma/chroma samples. Phase factors and data loading signals are calculated with the sampling distance. With the proposed algorithm, a filter can be generated and implemented on the fly using software. Scheduling information for hardware implementation can also be obtained from the algorithm.
