Abstract :
We present a simple theoretical model to predict the performance of radiation-mode filters written in optical fibres and demonstrate good agreement with experiment. We also present a new fibre structure for use in radiation-mode filters for telecommunications applications, with low insertion loss due to splices and bends and a filter FWHM bandwidth of only 3.4 nm
