Abstract :
Using Brus equation, the effect of quantum confinement on the wavelength of CdSe, ZnS and GaAs quantum dots for different confinement radii has been studied. The confinement of electrons in semiconductor quantum dots increases dramatically with decrease in its size (radius) and shows exponential dependence on wavelength of light emitted. It is observed that we can possibly extend their wavelength to match IBSC system for communication in the optical C-band.
