Abstract
A new method is proposed for the analysis of a transverse radiating slot coupled to a non-homogeneous guiding structure. Using the finite element method (FEM), arbitrarily complex cross-section guiding structures can be characterized and then, by means of an application of the reciprocity theorem, coupled to the slot. This approach overcomes the restrictions of previous methods, based on an application of method of moments (MoM), requiring the knowledge of the guiding structure Green´s function. Further refinement of the computed radiated field is obtained by taking into account also the contribution arising from the diffraction at the edge of the perfectly conducting surface (of the rectangular waveguide walls) in which the slot resides
