Abstract :
The effects of micro TEC (Thermo-Electric Cooler) for hot spot cooling system of electric device which is combined with heat sink are investigated numerically using the TAS program. The performance characteristics such as figure of merit ZT of the micro TEC are simulated by specific polynomial expression. The active heat spreading of the micro TEC in the hot spot region is obviously found when the final heat dissipation through the heat sink is increased. Consequently, lower maximum temperature at the hot spot can be obtained by adopting the micro TEC. We will also discuss the limitations and design problems when the micro TEC is applied to the hot spot cooling of electric device.
