Title :
A millimetrewave communication system for MAGLEV application
Author_Institution :

Abstract :
The operation of magnetic levitated vehicles (MAGLEV) require a data transmission from the vehicle to the stationary located operation control system. The reliability of this data link must be extremely high, because any transmission interrupt will cause an emergency stop of the vehicle. A radio link, operating in the millimetrewave range at about 40 GHz is well suited for this application. For the German MAGLEV research centre such a millimetrewave communication system has been built and has now been in operation for four years. The paper presents an overview of the realized system. The individual components i.e. mmwave transceiver and transceiver control units, are described. A presentation of the measurement results which were obtained after successful installation completes the paper.<>
