Abstract
A modified approach to the method of lines (MMOL) is used to analyze shielded and open planar microwave structures. This method is based on transformation functions to reduce the number of lines while maintaining the so-called edge condition. An extensive study on the choice of these transformation functions is performed in this paper. Numerical results show the potential gain both in computational efficiency and accuracy as compared to the original MOL
