Abstract :
Previous developments show an increasing interest for wireless in-house multimedia communication within the 2.4 GHz ISM-band. A disadvantage of the ISM-band is the high level of mainly narrowband interference, generated by other communication systems and by the leakage of microwave ovens. Good communication is therefore only possible when appropriate measures are taken to compensate for the interference. We compare the performance of two different modulation techniques in the presence of narrowband interference. We consider OFDM and single-carrier modulation with frequency domain processing. A static model of the Bluetooth system is used as source of interference. Both modulation techniques are interesting for in-house communication due to the simpler frequency domain equalization.
