Abstract
In this paper we present a cross-layer fair algorithm for efficient packet scheduling in wireless OFDMA system. At the medium access control (MAC) layer, we perform a prediction of the future state of the wireless channel for each user by utilizing the information from the physical layer. According to this prediction we determine which users should be served and which resources should be allocated by the packet scheduler during the next frame. In our proposed scheduling algorithm, for each step the user with the least normalized transmit rate is allowed to choose a subcarrier, and the subcarrier with the highest utilization efficiency and the best channel condition to that user is selected. The efficiency of the proposed scheme in terms of average packet delay, packet drop rate is verified via simulation
