Abstract :
Due to necessary specifications of manifold coordination for managing resource interdependencies and corresponding control data flows the design of Petri nets (P/T nets) describing industrial processes tend to generate considerably high complexity itself. With regard to economic efficiency of process modeling and simulation studies it is essential to cope with this complexity on a systematic basis. The paper takes up this problem, which has rarely been regarded so far. Three major mutually dependent topics are focused on, and are applied in a case study: view-oriented phases of the model construction, the use of model components and the application of the guidelines of modeling.
