Abstract :
This investigation concentrated on designing of dual-frequency microstrip-fed slot antennas in the range of 2.40-2.4835 GHz and 4.9-5.0 GHz, 5.0-5.019 GHz or 5.15-5.35 GHz (UNII) band, which support WLAN communications standardized by IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/h/j. Two antenna configurations were presented. The first antenna was a simple narrow linear slot antenna developed for dual-frequency support of 2.40-2.4835 GHz (ISM) and 5.15-5.35 GHz (UNII) band. The technique of off-setting the microstrip feed line position for creating dual-frequency support was presented. Another configuration presented was an L-shaped slot antenna which was designed for 2.40-2.4835 GHz, 4.9-5.0 GHz and 5.0-5.091 GHz band developed from a single-frequency supported linear slot antenna. Both antennas were analyzed by Method of Moments (MoM), using IE3D commercial software from Zeland Inc. The simulation result revealed that a dual and multi-frequency support characteristic antenna could be obtained from a simple structure by changing the microstrip feed line position and changing the configuration from linear to L-shaped antenna. The characteristics of the proposed antennas satisfied the requirements
