Abstract
In this paper, fully packaged non-enzymatic glucose micro-sensor with Nafion membrane was designed and fabricated on silicon substrate for in-vivo applications. Working and counter electrodes of the micro-sensors were formed with electroplated mesoporous platinum and its reference electrode was patterned with screen-printed Ag/AgCl. The fabricated micro-sensors with plane Pt WE/CE, mesoporous Pt WE, and mesoporous Pt WE/CE have different sensitivities of 0.009 muA mM-1 cm-2, 5.46 muA mM-1 cm-2, and 7.75 muA mM-1 cm-2 in glucose solution, respectively. The fully packaged micro-sensor with Nafion membrane has a sensitivity of 0.36 muA mM-1 cm-2 and excellent linearity in the glucose concentration ranged from 0 mM to 30 mM. The biocompatible Nafion membrane was utilized to avoid not only reactivation of ascorbic acid and acetaminophen but also the electrode fouling by proteins in the blood serum for in-vivo and continuously monitoring systems.
