Abstract :
Welcome to the 38th Annual Northeast Bioengineering Conference! We are thrilled to be hosting this event at Temple University in historic Philadelphia. Every year, the Northeast Bioengineering Conference strives to bring together an exciting program with a focus on student achievement and scholarship, and this year is no different. Well over 200 papers were accepted for publication this year, a conference record. We hope you will enjoy reading them as much as we have. This is an especially exciting time for Temple University as it marks the inaugural year of our new Department of Bioengineering. Our Founding Chair, Dr. Peter Lelkes will be in attendance (including a technical presentation in Session 2C). The theme of this year´s conference is Translational Research. We have two sessions exclusively focused on this topic, with the goal of instructing and motivating students to translate their ideas from concept through prototyping and into production. We hope you can take advantage of this opportunity to hone your entrepreneurial skills. This year´s scientific program features contributions from some of the finest bioengineering research labs in the Northeast. With sessions ranging from Instrumentation to Neural Engineering to Stem Cells, the program covers the entire bioengineering spectrum.
