Abstract :
An expert system for the design of municipal sludge-land applications in South Carolina was developed using the Personal Consultant Plus shell. The design procedure and the regulations on the sludge application are expressed in the form of rules and parameters of eight subframes under a root frame of the knowledge base. Sludge, soil, and crop database provide default data when required. The output of this expert system provides information essential for preparing a sludge- l- and application permit request
