Abstract :
The purpose of multispectral and panchromatic images´ fusion is to extract the high-resolution spatial information of the panchromatic image and the high-resolution spectral information of the multispectral image. Image transforms such as Intensity-Hue-Saturation (IHS) or Principal Component Analysis (PCA) transform are widely used. These methods create fusion image with higher spatial resolution but usually at the cost of spectral distortion. In this paper, a novel fusion method using lab transform based on Fourier filtering is presented. To analyze the quality of the fused image impersonally, several performance evaluation indicators are conducted. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method showed better performance than some traditional panchromatic sharpening methods.
