Abstract :
The development of CT2, a pioneering low cost digital radio access technology now provides for the first time the opportunity to extend cordless communications to all areas of the market and possibly moving toward the 21st century to a position where it replaces many of the fixed wire services. DECT is emerging as an alternative radio access technology. Cooperation between the existing CT2 manufacturers and operators and the proponents of DECT is needed, as the separation of the two technologies can only be detrimental to the long term future of cordless services. It is likely that cordless services will have a vital role in the development of personal communication networks
