Abstract :
In this paper, the feasibility of replacing a mechanical valve actuation system with an electromagnetic system is considered. Following a mechanical study conducted in order to determine both the power and consumption needs, two types of electromagnetic linear actuators are examined to evaluate their viability for the target application. The possibility of associating springs with linear actuators to fulfil the pertinent specifications are also discussed.
