Abstract :
Money is not being spent on improving the road networks to cope with the increased traffic on the roads. In a recent survey carried out by the RAC it was found that nearly 20% of the drivers travelling in London were lost. If we cannot increase the road building programme or reduce the amount of vehicles on the road, we must ensure that those vehicles on the road are on the correct route to their destination. The way forward therefore is to introduce into the vehicle a simple to use turn-by-turn guidance system that always knows where you are and can direct you simply and safely to the destination of your choice
