Abstract :
The rapid growth of mobile industry, especially after the coming of smartphones, has given rises to many new mobile security issues. Those smartphones, most of which are resource-constrained compared with the traditional personal computers, however, actually make it hard for us to address these issues. Typically, it is not easy to perform resource intensive operations (e.g. malware scanning) on a handset, where the power and computational resources are limited. With the emergence of cloud computing, this situation may soon be changed. Based on a new conception of pay-as-you-consume, cloud services could greatly enhance the computational capabilities of mobile devices. The purpose of this paper is two-fold. First the state-of-the-art technology of cloud based mobile security is investigated by surveying on papers of this topic - most of them can be accessed from the ACM, IEEE, and USENIX. Secondly, a new framework called PCFC (Private Cloud and File Characteristic) is proposed in order to make improvement in this realm.
