Abstract :
This paper discusses power sector reforms and restructuring in India. After the initiation of economic reforms in the year 1991, the Government of India also embarked on the reforms in the power sector. Power development and reform programme scheme which has started yielding results in various region of the country. The projects funded under this scheme are aimed at: improving financial viability of state, reducing T&D loss, improving reliability and bringing transparency.
