Abstract :
The use of a highly asymmetric wideband telecommunications system, such as the Global Broadcast System, to support the warfighter requires a new approach to the management of the information to be moved. The use of intelligent agents to locate and stage information for wideband broadcast from a theater injection point, together with the use of the relatively narrowband joint tactical Internet as a reachback link, offer a practical solution to the search for information and retrieval from non-battlefield repositories. However the issue of the movement of what may be called “warfighter push” information from the deployed warfighter to higher echelons of command may require revisions in information management procedures and the broadcast architecture. This paper summarizes the results of an investigation into this question and provides a recommendation on the tactics, techniques and procedures which can be used to ensure full support to the warfighter
