Abstract
The main aspects in preliminary design of ships were analyzed first in this paper, and the main problems of traditional methods were considered carefully. The uniform design method was used to provide a series versions of an original project for experts to choose from. Their score of each version´s attributes was gathered, and then entered in a new intuitionistic fuzzy matrix that was used to construct an overall expert opinion. The intuitionistic fuzzy hybrid geometric operator processed the evaluating matrix, ensuring the weights of experts´ attitudes were counted in, as well as the weights of projects´ attributes and the weighted vector of operator. In this way a final decision on ship´s principal dimension was finally obtained. The results for the example used in this paper were very close to those for excellent foreign vessels with similar function and displacement.
