Abstract :
The 20th century witnessed a rapid development of private car in China. More and more personal motors flood into the households. Traffic pollution caused by this has led to the air and sound pollution in the city, which does great harm to health and life quality of those who live in the city. Traffic pollution has become the focus of the world. By taking the typical "private car city" - Suzhou as an example, this paper analyzes the feature of urban traffic pollution in China and introduces some successful experience in controlling traffic pollution both at home and abroad. It focuses on discovering some practical strategies in controlling the urban traffic pollution in terms of management, policy and technology with the purpose of providing some illuminating ideas in the sustainable development of the urban traffic in China.
