Abstract :
In order to achieve higher efficiency with relatively simple and low production cost, a layered block is made from the amorphous iron sheets. The iron block is used for the stator and rotor cores of a switched reluctance motor. The experimental results of the test machine are compared to another machine, which is made of low iron loss silicon steel having 3SA300 type in JIS standard. The validity of the test results of the motors is compared and verified by the analytical simulation software package. It is found that about 6% efficiency improvement is realized in the proto type switched reluctance motor with layered amorphous core material. It is also found that the laboratory test motor has an efficiency of 95.1% at a speed of 8,500r/min with an output of 2.4 kW.
