Abstract :
Engineering designers depend on a variety of information sources. We have implemented portions of an information system architecture developed earlier, using Web browsers to provide a common interface to data sources that include distributed databases organized in PostgreSQL. The system organizes and indexes information maintained in various formats at different locations. The author discusses key implementation details and the rationale behind the design.
