Abstract
This paper describes the use of symbolic techniques applied to the design automation of data conversion systems. An extension of the automation synthesis process to a new abstraction level, the algorithm level, is achieved with such techniques. Different techniques for implementing the synthesis tasks in the new abstraction level are discussed. The interface with numerical techniques involved in the data conversion topology sizing tasks embedded in a knowledge base synthesis environment is described. Finally, an example of a data conversion system synthesized with such techniques is presented
