Abstract
Accurate representation of power systems by an equivalent circuit is often needed in various fields of power system study for the purposes of analysis, design, or simulation. In this paper a configuration consisting of a parallel connection of series RLC branches has been chosen as the equivalent network. For the estimation of the R L and C\´s Hingorani\´s method is used for a "good" initial guess. Scaling of circuit parameters is then carried out, without changing the resonant frequencies, then an optimization method based on the dichotomous technique is used to minimize the difference between the actual data and derived equivalent circuit
