Abstract :
An integrated services protocol called Orwell-B is presented. It is a modification of the Orwell protocol, a distributed control protocol that eliminates the need for a monitor node. The protocol supports all the features of the original Orwell protocol and introduces the concept of surplus cells which reduce queuing delays of low priority traffic at the same time increasing the throughput of the network at low and medium loads. Studies of network simulations are presented, illustrating the advantages of the modified protocol
