Abstract
A real-time implementation of an 8 kbps high-quality multi-pulse coder on a single chip DSP is given. The coder employs a new multi-pulse analysis structure which allows a fast algorithm to be used for calculating the cross-correlation between the input speech and the impulse response of the LPC filter. A fast algorithm for searching the pulse information is given. A simple and fast coding scheme for packing the pulse positions to low data rates is also addressed
