Abstract
An adaptive receiver with multiple tap-weight vectors is proposed to cancel multiple-access interference in direct-sequence code-division multiple-access systems. The receiver exploits the periodicity of the interference when the spreading sequence length is larger than system processing gain. Moreover, blind startup, which means startup without any known training sequence is possible with no loss of performance. A coded system is also investigated over fading channels. Further improvement can be attained with a modified algorithm which uses the decoded code word for the tap-weight adaptation
