Abstract
The paper defines characteristic performance parameters of frequency adaptive HF communication systems and jammers that can be expected to be fielded into the next century. Basic features such as number of frequencies, frequency change time and total transmission time for simplex message transfer are treated in a context that describes the duel between a jammer and the communicator. Communication system capacity and message transfer probability when subjected to a responsive, frequency following jammer are computed
