Abstract
The author proposes an extension to the classical lossless inverse scattering (LIS) problem and points out its potential use in spectral approximation in the areas of signal modelling and model reduction for optimal control. He presents a solution consisting of tree steps, the first of which is the classical LIS-algorithm. The second step is a simple transformation of the data and the last step is an application of the multichannel LIS-algorithm. The algorithm is essentially recursive and thus computationally very attractive. Illustrative examples have been worked out
