  • Abstract
This paper presents hybrid series active filter based on an adaptive predictive algorithm to compensate voltage sags and current harmonics for residential equipment. Generally, in order to detect current harmonics and voltage sags, the conventional detection algorithms such as RMS-based algorithm and FFT-based algorithm have been introduced to achieve the detection task. In this paper, an alternative algorithm, the adaptive predictive algorithm is adopted to do the same task as the conventional algorithms. The salient feature of the adaptive algorithm is that it can detect the event as fast as the conventional algorithm can. Thus it would be appropriate to detect the event like voltage sags. Because the voltage sags even very short duration may result malfunction to sensitive loads. The computer simulation are carried out to verify the proposed detection system. The simulation results show that the proposed detection system can speed up the compensation time of the hybrid series active filter
