Abstract :
Dahuangpuwa detention basin is an important flood control project in Haihe River Basin. It provides complex ecological functions and services. Examples of the ecosystem´s services are flood control, water purification, biodiversity, production output and recreation. Based on field surveys and research of the study area, the economic values of the main ecosystem services in Dahuangpuwa are computed. The results show that the direct use values including provision of ecosystem products, and recreation and tourism are 44825×104 RMB, mainly the value of fish production. The indirect values in terms of flood regulating, plant and wildlife habitat provision, water purification and air regulation are 27200 ×104 RMB, in which 21574×104 RMB of flood storage. From above estimated values, it can be concluded that the detention basin ecosystem services have great ecological and economic values.
