Abstract :
The paper describes a laser slopemeter which is capable of measuring two dimensional wave slopes of up to 45° with a precision of 1° for waves of lengths between 1 m and 1O mm. The apparatus is mounted upon a small twin hulled vehicle which is towed by a larger vessel. It is hoped that the laser slopemeter, once operational, will be used to take in situ measurements of the sea surface-in conjunction with both SAR and radioscatterometer measurements
