Abstract :
This paper presents the details of a method for the simulation of the six-pulse bridge converter with input filter. The input filter has a general form including any number of harmonic traps. In addition, the characteristics of the converter gating circuit are also simulated. The set of equations derived in this paper are valid for all modes of operation of the bridge converter including single and double commutation periods, freewheeling period, and operation under faulty conditions. The method is used for the steady state, transient and fault studies. Several examples illustrating the applications of the simulation method are included. The experimental results are used to verify the accuracy of the simulation method.
