Abstract :
For the first time, design teams can evaluate a new electronic or mechanical design in work for its effects on the environment, health, and safety. An on-line, widely accessible system calculates a quantitative environmental rating of the proposed design and recommends alternatives for improvement. The system is used during the design process by design teams for real-time feedback. Approaches to cost-effective maintenance of the environmental data are also discussed
