  • Abstract
A canonical radiating structure has been analyzed by applying a hybrid technique. First, the equivalence principle is employed to divide the original configuration into two separate problems, that are coupled by enforcing the continuity of the field. Next, a MM (method of moments) formulation is applied for solving the continuity equation on the aperture cover. Then the standard MM matrix is argumented by either ray methods or FEM that are well suited to treat the two separate problems. This procedure leads to a very efficient numerical algorithm. Its extension to treat more practical, tridimensional configurations appears rather straightforward, except for requiring more numerical efforts. This simple example suggests that this hybrid technique which combines different methods, may be usefully applied to treat rather general configurations consisting of coupled, radiating the guiding structures
