Abstract :
This paper studies control structures which are needed in power switching conversion when the original power source signal and/or the desired power wave form have large dynamics. It is first shown that good conversion for large signal dynamics implies a two-position reversible switch. As a consequence, the discontinuous conduction mode disappears and power cells under switching operation can then be truly described by a linear or bilinear model, according to the case (buck, boost, etc…). Feedback control policies which are respectively linear and non-linear in the state variables, are shown to give the desired closed-loop regulation of the output, as a reference signal follower
