Abstract
At the University of California, San Diego, we are developing architectures and technologies targeted at the practical realization of interactive multimedia services to subscriber communities. We believe that a key deciding factor for the feasibility of interactive multimedia services is their economic viability. We propose techniques for information caching as a fundamental means of optimizing per user costs of multimedia distribution
