  • Abstract
Next generation wireless systems will represent heterogeneous environment, characterized by multinetwork topology including many administrative domains, multiservice communication and multimode terminals. Design of efficient network selection techniques is one of the main research directions in this area. The existing techniques do not completely satisfy the demands from the covering technologies point of view, as well as analyzing parameters adequacy, implementation complexity, together with invoking the all entities to the access network selection. This article presents the proposal of suitable network selection technique for heterogeneous wireless environment that is based on TOPSIS method when solving the multiple criteria analysis. The radio access networks in this model represent the alternatives, while the network parameters are considered as the trigger criteria for determining the suitable network. Through simulation studies, we show the potential of multiple criteria analysis, together with traffic parameters influences on optimal network selection process.
