  • Abstract
With the rapid economic development, environmental pollution becomes more serious than before. The contamination sources of local area increase continually. Such as dust, waste, gas and so on. All of these factors produce serious influence to power system. According to statistic, loss caused by contaminant flashover accident is regarded to be the largest. Natural contamination is the basic factor for insulator flashover. As concerned to different landform, the contamination source, ingredients, cleaning effort of rainfall and climate conditions are different. They are all the influential factors for insulator contamination states. In other words, the regional character has a determined effect on the state of insulator natural contamination. In order to find the relationship between them, study on the state of specimen insulator contamination has been carried out in Dongguan of Guangdong province. In the paper, six typical physiognomies have been provided. In the paper, natural contamination test stations are set up. Dongguang city is divided into six areas, which are mountainous area, agricultural area, industrial area, coastal area, residential area and highway. Insulator for test is installed in these areas according to plan. On the basis of Equivalent Salt Deposite Densities (ESDD) and non-soluble deposit density (NSDD) test result, studies show that different areas have different contamination cumulative features, because they have different natural contamination source and climate factors.
