Abstract
The application of computers in the design, analysis, and control of a completely implantable total artificial heart is discussed. Computing tools are used to perform overall system dynamics modeling and analysis, magnetic coupling finite element analysis, and blood pump sizing numerical optimization. A microprocessor-based hybrid controller that has been developed for closed loop feedback control of the device is also discussed
