Abstract
The authors have found qualitative changes in the EEG of awake but sleep derived volunteers. These qualitative changes take the form of a shift to lower frequencies in relative amplitude of fast Fourier transformed EEG. The paper looks at how, using the backpropagation algorithm, a 3 layer neural network was trained to discriminate rested from sleep deprived EEG
